Diya Sharma may look like your girl next door, but she's a girl with big dreams and a trait to instantly charm you with her delicious cakes. She's loved baking since childhood. Though she has had her fair share of stories burning down the kitchen, her love for cooking and thanks to Gen-Z's greatest guidebook, "YouTube", she got better at it. Soon, surprising her friends with her home baked delicacies became a regular feature.
Then the pandemic hit. With more time in hand and her mom to help too, she turned this period in her favour and launched her own business called blissful bites in August 2020. Her friends spread the word and she built a community on the internet. The first month was a total hit with a lot of local fans. She even donated the money from their first order (how Indian, right?)
Getting ingredients from the wholesale market, making a cake that takes 6-8 hours and delivering it on time is no less than a Herculean task. Plus they hit a slump in September and the feeling of devastation was kicking in. But they persisted.
Instinctively, they introduced a better range of dishes along with cakes like cupcakes, brownies and jar cakes. These gained popularity. The wedding season of November-December did well and their business picked up momentum. They now cater to not only birthday parties but also get-togethers, anniversaries, and other events. She has done all this just at the age of 17, alongside pursuing chartered accountancy!
She is currently saving up for new baking equipment.
She believes that taking the risk of investing money is inevitable if you want to make it big in business or investing.
Diya belongs to #OurTribe as her story of dreaming big and doing what you love is inspiring many to be financially independent, even as a student.
